The Call

As most of you know by now, we have been blessed once again with a sweet little angel. I'll back up a few weeks and tell you why this may have come as a big surprise for some of you..including us!

I blogged a while back abot how we were going to begin the adoption process again, not in a huge hurry, and knowing that we would take our time completing the tedious process of paperwork and state requirements. I was just getting things finished up, and planned to copy everything, print about 25 copies of our profile, complete the update to our home study and mail off all 5 agency packets around mid- August. On July 25, at about 11:00am, Chase and I had just walked in the door at home from grocery shopping. My phone rang, and I saw that it was our adoption consultant. I thought it was strange that she was calling, but I answered of course. The rest is a huge blur...but she called to tell me that she had recieved a call about a birthmom who had chosen an adoptive family, but due to an emergency, that family had to back out. She proceeded to tell me a little bit about the situation (we get few details in the beginning), and said that her criteria for an adoptive family was us, and our criteria for what we would like to find was her.... the only thing was, her due date was the NEXT DAY!...we had to submit our profile for her to view, and she would choose a family from that stack... now you can imagine the shock we felt. We knew we wanted to expand our family soon, but this soon??? Chase will be one year old on 8-28, and I wasnt sure how we would manage... A million thoughts ran through my mind, all kinds of emotions, but ultimately we knew that God had presented this to us for a reason. We found out the next morning that this birthmom had chosen us!

So this leads me to why many of you didn't know this was all happening...we were running around like crazy trying to get legal things lined up, Brad was out of town for work and had to fly home, we knew that this baby could be born at any minute, so I was trying to have things lined up and ready for someone to take care of Chase while we would be gone...things were a bit chaotic to say the least, but nonetheless, we were thrilled beyond belief.

This baby girl would be born in Houston, so we knew that the travel situation would be much easier than before, and we were ready. Birthmom had a scheduled induction Sunday night, and baby Britton was born the next evening, on 8-6-12 at 7:09pm. She was the most precious baby girl ever. We were instantly in love, and nervous at the same time. Texas law states that a birthmom cannot sign legal papers until the baby is 48 hours old...so it was a loooong 2 days. We fell in love with the birth family, and enjoyed our time with them..you probably remember the same thing about Chase's birth family...Im not sure how we ended up with two amazing birth families, but we did, and I am so greateful for that.

After 48 hours, papers were signed, and Britton was officially ours. We couldn't be happier, and couldn't wait to get home to introduce her to our family, and for her to meet her big brother Chase. We drove home Thursday morning, and were welcomed by family and friends. We have had so many people stop by for a visit, and we feel so much support and love from everyone. We are truly blessed beyond belief...we have two happy and healthy, perfect children. It is very surreal for me to even write this, because as most of you may remember...just a few years ago, we weren't sure we would ever have a family of our own...now we have a PERFECT family, and owe all the glory to God. There were many moments that I have doubted him, and his plan for us...but it all makes sense now...these two precious angels are supposed to be ours, and we are so greatful. I will post more photos soon, but I know there are a lot of you out there who wanted to know the story... Thank you all for your love, support and prayers!
