No toobin' on the Guadalupe today!

For those of you who haven't heard or aren't here to see.... Around 9:30 last night we began to have crashing thunder, lightening, and pouring rains...normally this lasts a short time and is gone...well, not this time. It continued ALL night long, and around 7:30 when it still was coming down, we decided not to open the cupcakery today. Roads, homes, and shops are flooded all around the New Braunfels area. San Antonio got some of the rain, but it decided to stay put on top of the good ol' NB. We haven't had any major flooding since 1998 and 2002...and we find outselves here again in 2010. Some of you might remember last summer the water level was too low to be on the water due to record breaking temperatures, and absolutely NO rain. Luckily this year we have been blessed with rainfall....but this is an extreme. Most of you have been to visit Brad and I at our house and we have taken you down to the river in our neighborhood, so I am sure you remember that it does NOT normally look like this...
This is the bow of a boat... Later there were RV's and mobile homes floating down river...
Just in case you are missing your raft....here it is!
This is the top level of a boat house which normally about 20 feet away from the water. Others who live along the river either lost their boats and jet-skis, or they were pinned under water beneath the boat house.

When I took these pictures this morning, the river had risen about 17feet, it is expected to rise to around 29-30 feet above normal. It's a sad sad day for New Braunfels....
